A few years ago, 2020 to be exact; I took the biggest leap of my life! I booked myself a solo trip to Mexico, yes.... MEX-ICO! No, I wasn't crazy, I was on a soul-searching healing journey.
When your mind & body signal you to move, you better listen, and I am glad I did. Not only did I realize I'm so much stronger than I gave myself credit, but I also found a different version of myself that I fell in love with.
I did some reach and chose to book my solo stay with Zoetry Wellness & Spa Resort, it was exactly what I needed: yoga sessions, meditation room, spa, saltwater pools, ocean view dining restaurants and much more. Just what a girl needed, it was just the right place to relax, unwind and release any energy that didn't serve me; especially with all that was going on in the world, I literally went on a solo trip in the middle of a pandemic. Looking back, I wasn't the sharpest tool in the shed for going alone, but I wouldn't trade the experience for anything in the world.
The takeaway of my trip was finding balance within myself. Finding balance helped me connect with myself on a deeper level. Before my solo trip, I had no understanding of mental health awareness. I was not aware that I harbored a lot of emotions from past traumas, I had so much buildup emotions that it triggered anxiety and panic attacks at times. Now, I understand it very well & I work to improve my mental health daily. From that trip, I learned to listen; to listen to my body. Our body is a tool that guides us, if we pay closer attention to our body, it will send our mind signals. My body was trying to warn me, but my mind wouldn't listen until that weekend I went to Mexico. I know for sure I'm not the same person I was the day I got off that plane. - I discovered ways to balance my mind, body and soul with daily practices of: breathing exercises, morning yoga sessions, meditating and taking long walks. I got so good with listening to my body that I no longer experience anxiety or panic attacks; "The mind is a powerful thing!" Remember, your body is to guide you, dont be afraid to listen to it & don't be afraid to book yourself a solo trip; “Some journeys can be only traveled alone.”
